I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane

In a matter of hours, I will be hurling through the sky at hundreds of miles an hour to Wisconsin for the final wedding weekend of the year! Even though I should be making sure I have everything packed, checking directions to the airport, or...heck...even sleeping, I thought I should update and let the world know what's up.

Boulder Valley School District approved my application and I can start subbing as soon as I attend New Substitute Orientation on October 14th. I am really really looking forward to having consistent work.

I ran a 5K last Saturday as a fundraiser for the school my upstairs neighbor teaches at. I ran it in 27:16. My goal was to get under 27 minutes so there's part of me that wants to start training and try again. However, I kept a good pace, felt I pushed myself, and passed people consistently throughout the race. So, I feel pretty good overall.

We lost both of our frisbee games last Sunday and we are 1-3 on the year. The first game was a result of our team just not clicking right. We dropped a lot of passes and just didn't execute. The second game was played in a mini-hurricane and the other team just got luckier than us.

I performed at the open mic night at the Irish Pub, Conor O'Neill's, on Tuesday. I played 3 songs: "Angel from Montgomery" by John Prine and 2 that I wrote - "Hangover Blues" and "Beat Alaska". It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to doing it again. That's one thing I can finally cross off my to-do-list. Trisha took a video of "Beat Alaska" so you can check Facebook for that if you want. I'll try and get a link soon or put it on YouTube maybe...

September CDs went out on Wednesday! Look for those in the mail if you got back to me!
