November 2009 Playlist

November CDs were shipped out today! This is much later than I had hoped for, but I promise it will be worth the wait. Personally, I think this is my best mix since June. July-October have been solid, of course, but I haven't been this excited to listen to one of my CDs since Flag Day. I really hope you enjoy and feel free to argue about the best (and worst) mixes in the comments! Also, if you are reading this and have not received a CD/are too excited to wait for snail mail, you can check out most of these songs by searching for my mixes at The Art of the Mix. You can find them by searching for DJSpyrograph.

Zach's Notes:
1. TMTS' third single is still as solid as their first two. Get this album now!
2. Probably my favorite song on the list.
4. Seems like such a fun band. How can you resist?
7. I hope this cover is better received than my last inclusion.
8. Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) did all the music for Where the Wild Things Are under the name "Karen O and the Kids." Great song from an amazing soundtrack! See the movie now!
11. Horrible band name, very nice song.
14. Now this is a group of individuals who know how to name a band!
18. Easily in my top three for best songs on this list.
23. Gentlemen, play this song for your GFs/wannabe GFs. Ladies, get ready to swoon.

  1. Where the Wild Things Are pretty much made me cry. I held it together better than the little girl behind me (what a pansy), but I was really moved by it. It remains one of my favorite books of all time, and the movie met and maybe even surpassed my expectations.

Looking forward to the swooning :)

  2. It was tough for me to be emotional watching the movie. It wasn't funny enough to laugh, sad enough to cry (at least for me), or scary enough to be afraid. I found myself feeling tense or in suspense most. I completely forgot Max was only imagining everything and that there's no way he'd have let himself get eaten, but I worried for him regardless.

  3. The Gibbard Farrar tune is pretty good. I streamed it from NPRs' website when they released it. I think the title of the song/documentary is slighlty curious. I feel like it should be One fast move and I'm gone instead of or. I'm sure that was Jack's words though...
