This week's Top 5 may take a little thought, but it is inspired by our good friend Jon "Chip" Van Oss. I would like your top 5 bands made of up only 3 people.
Time to get off the bench and into the game! Let's pick out some Top 5s!
Zach's Top 5
1. Born Ruffians
2. Run DMC
3. Eels
4. Buddy Holly and the Crickets
5. Rush
Another good poll here Zach. Let's see if I can think of some good trios (I'll try to not make them all jazz trios)
ReplyDelete1. King Crimson (on the Red album)
2. Tony Williams Lifetime (Tony Williams d. John McLaughlin g. Larry Young Organ)
3. Jimi Hendrix Experience
4. Tribe Called Quest
5. Props to the 90's group: The Presidents of the United States of America
This one is hard, and I'll play by the rules for once.
ReplyDelete1. Placebo
2. Muse
3. Rush
4. Them Crooked Vultures*
5. The Mercy Kiss**
*Ok, so I've only ever heard one song, but it's Dave Grohl, Josh Homme (hottest ginger ever), and a guy from Led Zeppelin. Can't go wrong there.
**Please, I beg so hard of you, do not look them up. II met them at Lollapalooza in Milwaukee in like 2003, and I haven't been able to let them go yet.
Another good group to mention is Morphine. The 90's indie trio featured the unique combination of drums, bass, and bari sax. Not my top five, but worth checking out.
ReplyDelete1. Muse
ReplyDelete2. Cream
3. Jimi Hendrix Experience
4. ELP
5. ...
Shoot, I may be partially responsible for this list but I have never really thought about how many three member bands I really like. Which, I know now, is four.
This one goes to Tim for referencing previous posts and for A Tribe Called Quest. Keep up the good work team!
